MATCH PREDICTION
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United moved themselves into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup in midweek with a 2-0 defeat of Chelsea at St James’ Park. The Magpies have remained a little underwhelming in the Premier League, though, with their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend meaning they have now gone five without a victory in the top-flight. They take on an Arsenal side that shared a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium last weekend before easing past Preston North End by three goals to nil in midweek. They have fallen off the pace in the fight for the Premier League title and do lack a ruthlessness in attack. That is matched by Newcastle’s own profligacy so whilst Arsenal are favourites, it is expected to be a lower scoring encounter.
