It has been a magnificent start to the season for Bayern Munich following the surprise appointment of Vincent Kompany. Following on from being knocked off their perch in the Bundesliga last year, the Bavarians have begun this season with six victories in six across all competitions, scoring 29 goals in the process. Bayer Leverkusen were the team to knock Bayern off that perch with Xabi Alonso’s side enjoying a strong defence of their title but, after going unbeaten domestically last season, they have already suffered a defeat in the opening month of this campaign. They have rediscovered some real fluency since returning from the September international break and they will be confident of scoring and hurting Bayern at the Allianz Arena with a high-scoring encounter to be expected but Bayern, with home advantage, will be favoured to reassert their dominance at the top of German football.
