Defending Turkish champions Galatasaray begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting at the top-of-the-table once again with eight victories and a draw in their opening nine matches of the campaign. The champions most recently hammered Antalyaspor by three goals to nil before defeating Elfsborg by four goals to three in the UEFA Europa League in midweek. They now face the team that are currently second in the Super Lig table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, Besiktas. They pulled off a surprise 1-0 defeat of Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday as they continue to improve under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Besiktas may well be quite confident but Galatasaray, especially with their home advantage, remain the firm favourites for this one.
