New Zealand came into the tournament looking to make themselves be more competitive on the global stage. The Kiwis dominate proceedings in Oceania but have been underwhelming at international events. They began with a hard-fought but disappointing 2-1 loss to Canada in a controversial encounter before being beaten 2-0 by Colombia. France were 3-0 up at half-time of their opener against the Colombians but could only win 3-2 before then conceding a 102nd minute winner to the Canadians to mean their job is not yet done under the management of Herve Renard. Despite concerns over their performances, a comfortable French win remains to be expected here.
