The Netherlands have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch at UEFA EURO 2024, which was not expected of Ronald Koeman’s Oranje. The Dutch have played in five matches with 14 goals coming in those games – despite the fact their second match of the tournament was a goalless draw with the tedious French. The Netherlands have, though, looked a little shaky at the back, despite the fact that, on paper, they have the best collection of defenders. England have reached the semi-finals without playing well at all and the Three Lions required penalties to defeat Switzerland in the quarter-finals but it is the third time in four major tournaments that Gareth Southgate has led England to the final four – having only ever previously played in four semi-finals. England, with the shift to a back three, did look a lot more composed and coherent in possession in the first-half against Switzerland and there may well be signs we are heading into an unexpectedly entertaining encounter in which both teams score.
